National Community Development Week (NCDW) was celebrated in April to raise awareness of the importance of the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, its impact on communities, and the need for increased program funding.

In 1974, the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development implemented the CDBG Program to assist local governments with meeting their greatest economic and community development needs.

“The CDBG Program has made a significant impact on our communities by addressing many of our most pressing local issues,” stated Bill Bacon, Director of Livingston County Economic Development. “Several redevelopment and revitalization projects throughout Livingston County would not have happened without these federal dollars. Our communities have benefitted greatly from this federal-local partnership.”
